Benign solitary growth of the thyroid. Most are nonfunctional (“cold”), can rarely cause hyperthyroidism via autonomous thyroid hormone production (“hot” or “toxic”).
Most common histology is follicular (arrows in A ); absence of capsular or vascular invasion (unlike follicular carcinoma).
