couvelaire徴候常位胎盤早期剝離では胎盤基底脱落膜内の出血により，子宮，胎盤のうっ血が起こる．重症の場合には，出血，組織変性，壊死が子宮漿膜まで広がり，子宮は黒い溢血斑を呈する．これをcouvelaire徴候という．このような症例では胎児胎盤娩出後に子宮収縮が不良となりやすく，弛緩出血をきたすことがある．
