this に「それ」，that に「これ」のほうが当てはまるという，逆転現象のように思われるケースがある。たいていこういったケースにおいては，話し手と聞き手が同じ場所で同じ事物を目に［耳に］している状況で，その事物を「話し手の領域」と捉えている感覚ではthis，「聞き手の領域」と捉えている感覚ではthat にする，という傾向が感じられる。
cf.歯医者で痛い歯を指さしながら「この歯見てもらえませんか？」と言う時には，this／that どちらもあり得る。／「これでも喰らえ！」はTake that！
